Eight: Sharing a Small Planet
Global interconnectedness and humanity. We need to educate ourselves so we can coexist on this planet. No single nation can “go it alone.” It was a founding father, Benjamin Franklin, who said, “We must, indeed, all hang together, or most assuredly we shall all hang separately.”
To support this nation’s most effective and enduring efforts in peace and diplomacy, this month Greenleaf Music and I will support the Peace Corps, which continues to operate worldwide and represent the better parts of us as human brothers and sisters. The current wave of diplomatic disasters will pass, and we will need to be forward facing about our role in the world. Love all, serve all, treat all.
Don’t forget to support your state senate and house candidates, as well as paying close attention to local elections. They decide who we are. If you have close house or senate races in your state, please donate widely, even if in small amounts. It sends a positive signal to the candidates and to the media. Red To Blue is a good resource to find flippable seats in your area.

"What an extraordinary time to be alive. We’re the first people on our planet to have real choice: we can continue killing each other, wiping out other species, spoiling our nest. Yet on every continent a revolution in human dignity is emerging. It is re-knitting community and our ties to the earth. So we do have a choice. We can choose death; or we can choose life.
"Hope is not what we find in evidence, it’s what we become in action.”
- Frances Moore Lappé, author of Diet for a Small Planet
